That idea came from Dr. Pat Zimmerman, an internationally respected atmospheric chemist whose work helped shape the global understanding of greenhouse gases, particularly methane. Throughout his decades-long career—from early biogeochemical research in the Amazon, Africa, and Asia to groundbreaking field methods for measuring emissions from cattle—Dr. Zimmerman saw one consistent need: accurate, traceable, and actionable data.
With that guiding vision, Dr. Zimmerman founded C-Lock Inc. alongside his sons, Scott Zimmerman and Tom Zimmerman. Together, they built the company’s first GreenFeed unit—an innovative emissions monitoring system that gave researchers and producers the ability to measure methane, CO₂, and hydrogen directly from ruminant animals. Their goal was not only to advance science but to create real-world tools that improve livestock efficiency, animal health, and environmental outcomes.
